Immediately, one of Willie's acquaintances, James, decided he needed a lighter and had a knife he no longer needed. Eager to make such an outstanding trade, I went for it. I walked away playing with the knife, only to find that when opened, the lock was so hard to push, that it was nearly impossible to close the knife. He then told me that's why he didn't want it. Still convinced that the trade was worth it, I kept the knife, but not without learning the valuable lesson of taking a good look at potential barterable goods. Later I found a guy who had some files and set to filing down the lock, which made it easier to close. I decided that free improvements on any object that I traded were a good idea.
