ACIVITIES:
- Creating documentary films about positive social and environmental projects, thereby honoring concrete actions that people are taking and the ripples that spread in the wake of these actions.
- Sponsoring educational forums in towns and cities we visit, including creating spaces for showing films, supporting dialogue, hosting speakers, playing music, and other similar activities.
- Creating promotional videos and web-based media content for people and groups undertaking positive projects.
- Providing support and educational opportunities for individuals and organizations to undertake their own film projects, through programs such as workshops and film festivals.
- Acting as an example by partaking in more sustainable activities, such as traveling in a vegetable oil-powered bus and supporting local people and products.
- Using our website as…
---- a movie theater for films by us and others.
---- a place to find resources regarding our film and similar topics.
---- a resource for those to want to learn more about becoming involved in conscious living projects and practices.
GOALS:
- To raise awareness, inspire people, and encourage dialogue and actions regarding solving social and environmental issues.
- To foster a connection between people with similar community and environmental interests.
PHILOSOPHY:
In order to secure beneficial social and environmental change, Awaketrain supports a movement of positive reinforcement. We feel that focusing on negative aspects of issues merely fortifies solid ground for more negative thinking and thus cannot provide a reasonable outlet for constructive change. Rather, the positive side of (and solutions to) issues should be highlighted, creating a vehicle for greater positive change.
